Paul Michael Woolford has been working tirelessly for over 20 years in both a myriad of recording studios, and DJ booths globally, to redefine and reinvent all shapes of dance music. He has has applied his touch to over 200 records, and in 2020 collaborated with Diplo & Kareen Lomax on the crossover hit Looking For Me (131 million streams so far and counting, peaking at #5 in the UK Official Top 40, #1 Shazam UK, #1 USA Dance Radio Airplay), design polymath and creative director of Off White & Menswear Designer at Louis Vuitton, Virgil Abloh on the sleeve of Woolford’s Special Request debut for Legendary Belgian techno outpost R&S Records, as well as various artists from across cultural boundaries. His music is frequently used in runway shows and in recent years has been used by Burberry, Givenchy, Fendi, Marc Jacobs & other notable designers in their campaigns.
He has remixed in an official capacity New Order, Depeche Mode, Chemical Brothers, Dua Lipa, Kygo & Whitney Houston, Gregory Porter, Lana Del Rey, Disclosure, Sam Smith, MK, Jamie XX, London Grammar, Underworld, Krystal Klear, Morgan Geist and many others, as well as influencing flocks of other producers to drop their inhibitions and embrace bolder sounds. Woolford has recorded 5 Essential Mixes for BBC Radio 1, recently completed an 18 month extended BBC Radio 1 Residency, produced 4 official mix compilations including DJ Kicks : Special Request edition. Woolford has also contributed sound design to various Hollywood movie trailers, including, most notably, Bladerunner 2049.
As a DJ he tours relentlessly and held down a 9 year residency at Space on Sundays in Ibiza, as well as a 7 year hometown residency at Back To Basics in Leeds, in addition to playing pretty much every respected serious venue of note globally. Woolford sites a combination of the raw energy and diversity of the pirate radio airwaves, a lifetime of collecting records and the enlightenment of his art school days as key influences.
